Collaboration is the name of the game for me. Finding the right people to work with. Building a great team. Sharing ideas. Getting creative together. And coming up with strong results. All the while having as much fun as possible.
So it was with this recent project.
For a few months I’ve been intrigued by the figure of the quaintrelle. wanted to explore this in a fashion portrait context. The dictionary definition describes a quaintrelle this way: a woman who expresses her life through personal style, charm and cultivation of life’s pleasures.
So, when I came across the Instagram fee of Brighton-based model Katie McClane I knew I wanted to work with her. Katie has an established ‘brand’ as a model working with 1960’s fashion and memorabilia. But I was intrigued by a different sense of self in her images. One that chimed perfectly with the idea of the project. I knew she would be great to work with on this.
There’s still some more shooting to be done, but the first results shot at Copperdollar Studios in Brighton’s Kemptown came out well.
